I think we need to start concentrating on getting JDHS fixed up. We don't need a new school right now. We need to fix the one we have.

Sealaska needs to diagnose the cause of their business failure. The board needs to formulate a plan to recover and restructure. The most important function of the board of directors is to monitor or oversee executive action. These shareholders have elected the directors to represent their interests. The board must remember that a CEO is elected, not coronated.

George Bush might not be a rocket scientist, but he's no Al Gore either, thank God.

President Clinton leaves the White House in total disgrace. He has been found in contempt of court and fined, he has admitted not telling the truth under oath, he has been impeached, he has been suspected of many crimes and so forth. He should be thankful that his wardrobe for the next few years is not an orange jumpsuit.

If the CBJ goes through with the white elephant ice rink in Douglas I hope they put adequate sound insulation in it, as there are residents living 100 feet from it. Otherwise there will be lots of complaints to the CBJ police department to keep them busy.

To the person who's upset that the Jesse Jackson scandal didn't end up on the front page, they should realize that the stature of the person has a lot to do with where their story ends up. For example, Clinton, Bush and Newt Gingrich's scandals were all on page 1, but Jesse Jackson and Henry Hyde were on the inside pages because they don't have as much importance.

To the people who are concerned about eating fish that comes from Alaskan's fresh water: I'd much rather eat fish that comes from Alaska's water than fish that have been raised in cages in close proximity to each other, raised in their own waste and fed hormones.

To know whether we really need a new high school or not please take the time to go to the high school and look in the classrooms, or better yet sit in the class and see how crowded that high school is and how run down it is.

I am the father and single parent of three young sons. I have never knocked on anyone's door asking for help and I never will. And I certainly would never lower myself to accept a free home. If I can't get it on my own by working for it I'm not going to go around begging for it.

You'd think the partisan nastiness directed at Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Jesse Jackson would let up. Doesn't the Republican power grab give these folks something else to gloat over? That the righteous sniping goes on reveals not only a most unattractive character trait, but the hypocrisy of these self-identified Christians.
