Creative performing arts workshops for teachers continue

Posted: Thursday, January 21, 2010

Creative performing arts workshops for elementary school teachers are now underway, with two of three sessions still to come.

The workshops, organized by the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council, the Juneau-Douglas School District, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, are designed to show teachers how to integrate creative performing arts into their classrooms. The first paired session took place earlier this month; two more are upcoming.

Jan. 19 and 26: "Music in Any Classroom," with music teacher and musician, Patrick Murphy, at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center

Feb. 2 and 9: "Characters and Voice in Stories" with Perseverance Theatre's Education Director, Shona Strauser, to be held at Perseverance Theatre.

Workshops are held every Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The cost is $25 for a set of two workshops. One UAS credit is available for an additional $90.

To sign up, contact JAHC's Education Coordinator Rebecca Hartwell at or 586-2787.
