JUNEAU - State marine highway officials say they hope to have the ferry Aurora repaired quickly.
The Aurora is in Whittier after a hydraulic lifter on a service generator failed. That failure created cam shaft damage to the generator, which will require a new cam shaft and lifters to be installed.
Ferry general manager John Falvey said the Aurora is expected to resume service Friday.
During the Aurora's absence, ferry officials planned a sailing out of Whittier Tuesday by the Tustumena, with stops in Valdez and Cordova before returning to Kodiak.
