JUNEAU — This week’s Fireside Lecture will explore tsunamis in and around the Gulf of Alaska beginning at 6:30 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. tonight in the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center auditorium.
Attendees are invited to travel with National Weather Service Forecaster Joel Curtis around the gulf for a look at tsunamis that have happened in the past and those that may happen in the future. Curtis will talk about different types of tsunamis, how they form and how scientists evaluate the threat for tsunamis at specific locations.
