I would like to thank the Juneau Harbor Department for the brand new cleats on the ramps coming down into the harbor. They are so nice, especially when we have icy weather. Keep up the good work.

The weekend events in Washington, D.C., had everything to do with the Republicans, and almost nothing to do with celebrating a democratic election and inauguration of a president chosen by the people of the United States. As a registered Democrat and a dedicated advocate of civil rights, I wouldn't have attended even if you paid me.

For those of you who think that Clinton left the White House in disgrace: President George Bush, when he left office, left a legacy of Central American Natives dead, and pardoned all of those responsible.

I, and many others, would have joined the anti-inaugural march, had we known about it.

As a long-time Crimson Bear fan, it sure is a embarrassing to watch the officiating that goes on when out-of -town teams come in here. Let the boys play. They don't need your help, whistle-blowers.

Why pay police officers to sit down there and watch boxing? They should be out there doing their job, taking care of crime.

Please, when you call someone on the phone, let it ring more than three times. It is difficult to get there in that short of time, especially for senior citizens.

How many more youths have to be killed on Eaglecrest Highway before the Juneau Police Department realizes there is a problem with under-age partying up there?

To the owners of the little gray tabby cat that I ran over on Douglas Highway Tuesday morning: I just wanted to express my sincere apologies. It ran out in front of my truck and I couldn't stop in time. I am an animal lover and your cat didn't suffer. I'm sorry.

Of course George W. Bush was elected legally. Five Republicans in black robes made sure of it.

I am just flabbergasted that anyone would complain about somebody in the State Office Building leaving a couple windows open. Maybe they were hot or needed some fresh air.

I'm just wondering which English-speaking planet Deana Darnall is from? I hope that she never has to live in or visit a foreign country.
