Marine surveyors elect Sepel: George J. (Jim) Sepel was elected vice president of testing by the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors. He will serve a one-year term and also is on the board of directors of the 986-member organization. Sepel owns Sepel & Son Marine Surveying.
Head Start official retires: Shirly Jackson retired from teacher director of RuralCAP's Head Start program in Kake. She stared working for RuralCAP 35 years ago, the same year that Head Start began as a pilot program. Jackson won the Alaska Head Start Association's staff-of-the-year award last year.
Schlichting joins Carson Dorn: Sally Schlichting has joined the staff at Carson Dorn as an environmental professional.
She worked the last five years as state Department of Environmental Conservation's project manager of the contaminated site remediation program. Before that, she worked in DEC's water quality program.
Schlichting's responsibilities include spill and contaminated site characterization and clean up, spill response, and environmental permitting and regulatory coordination.
