According to Alaska statute, liquor establishments are not allowed to sell alcohol to an obviously intoxicated person.
Last February a local liquor clerk refused service to someone in a state of drunkenness. But that wasn't all. She realized the intoxicated man intended to drive away while impaired, so she provided law enforcement with his automobile description and license plate number. Now the drunk driver has been arrested, put on trial, and found guilty of felony DUI.
MADD wants to thank those responsible clerks who not only follow the law but also make our roads safer for all of us.
