FAIRBANKS - A Fairbanks man has been charged with wounding his wife and firing shots that almost hit two others.
Jeffrey Brian Johnkins, 29, was charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of assault for the incident Saturday night.
The 31-year-old woman, her sister and a 3-year-old girl were preparing to leave a home at about 9 p.m. when Johnkins arrived, police said.
A fight broke out and the woman's sister began to drive away.
Johnkins fired a handgun at the vehicle, striking his wife several times, police said. She suffered injuries to both hands and was driven to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for surgery.
Police officers received a tip that Johnkins was at another home and set up a perimeter around the area. Johnkins walked out of the home toward officers with a gun in each hand. He at first refused commands to drop the guns but did so a few minutes later and was arrested, police said.
