Food drive a huge success

Posted: Sunday, January 23, 2011

This year the Southeast Alaska Guidance Association (SAGA) chose to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day by holding a food drive. The drive was a great success, bringing in 801 pounds of food, all of which was donated to the Southeast Alaska Food Bank. I would like to extend a deep thank you to the generous people of Juneau whose donations made the drive so wonderful. I would also like to thank the Black Awareness Society for allowing us to host a donation table at their celebration. Thank you to St. Paul’s Catholic Church, where the donation table was held. Thank you also to the grocery stores that hosted the main portion of the drive: A&P, Safeway and Super Bear. The efforts of all Americorps and REACH Volunteers is greatly appreciated as well. It would not have been the success it was without the participation of all those who donated and volunteered. Again, thank you.
