Gastineau Channel Little League Board Meeting: Begins at 7 p.m. at the SEARHC annex building next to Valley Medical on Hospital Drive. Info: Jim O'Donnell, 789-7400.

Wednesday,Jan. 26

Wednesday Adult Hike: Meet at end of Eaglecrest Road at 9:30 a.m. and bring cross-country skis or snowshoes. Route in Eaglecrest Ski Area to be determined by group. Wear warm layers of clothing and bring plenty of food and water. No dogs or firearms. Info: Juneau Parks and Recreation, 586-5226.

Night skiing at Eaglecrest Ski Area: Skiers and snowboarders can ski under the lights from 4-9 p.m. on the the Hooter chairlift and the Pletter beginners' lift. Lift tickets are $13 for adults, $8 for children. The ski and snowboard school will offer special adult telemark and snowboard clinics on Friday nights, through mid-March depending on the snow. Region V Wrestling Championships: At Juneau-Douglas High School's main gym. Seeding meeting 7 p.m. Friday. Weigh-ins 8:30 a.m. Saturday, wrestling begins 10 a.m. Consolation finals 5 p.m., championship finals 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission charge for day session and consolation/championship finals $5 adults, $3 students, $2 children/seniors. Tournament pass $8 adults, $5 students.

Juneau Rifle and Pistol Club NRA High-Powered Rifle Match: At the Hank Harmon Rifle Range. Sign up at 9 a.m., shoot at 10. Info: 789-1717.

Southeast Roadrunners annual Race Director's Clinic: From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the valley Juneau Racquet Club. This clinic is a must for new and experienced race directors alike. New information for all directors will be provided. Info: Kim Rivera, 463-1529 or 586-7424.


LITTLE LEAGUE UMPS NEEDED: The Gastineau Channel Little League is recruiting for umpires, coaches, and managers for the 2000 season. Info: Avis Hayden, 789-5694.

LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL WINTER CLINICS: Held by the Gastineau Channel Little League every Sunday at Riverbend Elementary. No clinics Sunday, Jan. 30, but clinics continue every Sunday after until March 12. Times: 8-10 year olds, noon-1:30; 11-12 year olds, 1:30-3; 13-14 year olds, 3-4:30; 15-16 year olds, 4:30-6. LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL WINTER CLINICS: Held by the Gastineau Channel Little League Sunday, Jan. 16. For 6 to 8 year olds, clinic is from noon to 1; 9-12 year olds are from 1-3. Pitching practice is from 3-4. Both clinics are at Auke Bay Elementary. For players 13 and older, the clinic is from noon to 4 at Marie Drake. Bring tennis shoes and mitt.
