The Soroptimist International Club of Juneau celebrated its 55th anniversary this fall.

Soroptimist International of Juneau is a service club that focuses on making a positive difference for women and children in Juneau and around the world. Local projects include: A scholarship for a local woman seeking to improve her economic situation through training or education; purchasing books for needy local school libraries; and toiletry and school supply drives for the AWARE shelter.

Norma Johnson, of Juneau, has been with the club since it formed in 1946. Although Norma was unable to celebrate with us, two other long-time members did. Virginia Post and Lorraine Bayer have been with the club since 1954 and 1968, respectively.

We thank the community for its support of our efforts through our Christmas and Easter See's Candies Sales and look forward to our next 55 years!
