This is in response to Rob Kindred's Letter to the editor, "Thanks for burying us," on Jan. 19. How can someone complain about the snowplows when we are in the middle of one of the largest snowfalls in Juneau in quite some time?
The snowplow operators are working round the clock just to try to keep up. They deserve our thanks, not our criticism for sacrificing their weekend, their holiday on Monday, not to mention their time with their families. So we have to shovel a little to dig out our cars. I will gladly do that in exchange for having safe, clear roads to drive on.
Yes, Rob, you are right about one thing: It is a good workout. Imagine the workout if you had to shovel the whole street just to get to work or to the store. Be thankful there are people out there working extremely hard in horrible conditions so we can have safer driving conditions and fewer accidents. They are doing this for you and the rest of Juneau.
I personally want to say thanks to all of the workers out there trying to keep up with this winter storm. You all are doing an excellent job and we appreciate it. Keep up the good work.
An appreciative North Douglas resident
