Southeast Road Runners honor pair of runners

Dinnan and Craig receive Ben Blackgoat Memorial Scholarships

Posted: Wednesday, January 25, 2006

The Southeast Road Runners honored Saturday two graduating members of the Juneau-Douglas High School cross country team.

SERR awarded Wesley Dinnan and Carly Craig with Ben Blackgoat Memorial Scholarships.

The $500 scholarships will be used for college expenses in 2006-2007.

The scholarships were awarded on the basis of competitive essays submitted to the club by the applicant on the value of running in their lives.

Dinnan and Craig were awarded the scholarships during the annual SERR dinner.

The award is named after Ben Blackgoat, a former Juneau-Douglas High School runner who died in November 1996 while training on Perseverence Trail.
