Paul Dick of Juneau has been named director of the Employment Security Division by Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Click Bishop.
Dick has worked in senior management positions as chief of revenue operations for the Tax Division and chief of PFD operations for the Permanent Fund Dividend Division, both in the Department of Revenue, the department said.
“Paul is a respected leader whose experience directing operations for other state divisions will play a key role in serving Alaskans,” Bishop said in a statement provided by the department.
His areas of expertise include finding ways to better serve Alaskans through implementing technology, engaging staff through training, and short- and long-range planning. He was instrumental in implementing online filing for permanent fund dividends and some state taxes.
“I am excited to help Commissioner Bishop in advancing the department’s priorities, and to work with the division staff to promote employment opportunities for Alaskans and meet the workforce demands of the future,” Dick said.
The Employment Security Division promotes employment and economic stability by responding to the needs of employers and job seekers. To ensure that job-ready workers are available to meet employer needs, the Employment Security Division administers three complementary programs: Employment Services, Unemployment Insurance and Job Training through a network of Alaska Job Centers throughout the state.
The division had been directed by Tom Nelson, who was recently named deputy commissioner for the department.
