TRAPPER CREEK — A man described by neighbors as a troublemaker is accused of shooting a couple — killing the man and wounding the woman — at Trapper Creek, a community near Talkeetna, about 80 miles north of Anchorage.

The Anchorage Daily News reports Alaska State Troopers arrested 37-year-old Jeremy Christopher Nelson early Sunday after a standoff.

He’s charged with murder in the death of 66-year-old Robert Cary and assault in the wounding of his 58-year-old wife Verna. She told a daughter, Hannah Ehrman of Wasilla, that the power went off at their cabin and they were shot when they went outside to investigate.

One neighbor, Ross Nold, said Nelson has been intimidating people with his guns since moving last summer to Trapper Creek.
