U.S. Army airborne infantrymen, from Task Force 1-501 at Fort Richardson, leap from a C-17A Globemaster III during a training exercise Tuesday at the Malemute Drop Zone in Anchorage. Three Globemasters from the 446th Air Wing at McChord Air Force Base in Washington and several C-130H Hercules from the 517th Airlift Squadron of Elmendorf Air Force dropped HUMVEE vehicles, 105mm howitzers and paratroopers. Elmendorf is slated to be the home of a new joint active Air Force and Air Force Reserve C-17A squadron.
