Remember freedom on Alito vote

Letter to the editor

Posted: Thursday, January 26, 2006

According to Sen. Leahy of the Judiciary Committee, "The president is in the midst of a radical realignment of the powers of the government and its intrusiveness into the private lives of Americans. ... This nomination is part of that plan." It was important to note that Sen. Ted Stevens had not made a final decision on his vote in the Senate confirmation of Alito. Alaska has a constitution framed to honor many of the very freedoms we would stand to loose as Americans, if Samuel Alito is confirmed. I urge Sen. Stevens to vote with those constitutional freedoms in mind.
