Alaska Airlines ranked high in FlightStats’ second annual On-time Performance Service Awards. These awards recognize airlines that deliver the highest percentage of flights to their arrival gates within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival times.
Alaska Airlines won the category for arrival performance among major North American airlines with an on-time performance record of 87.36 percent for 2010. FlightStats reports the average on-time performance for this category was 79.18 percent, which includes airlines based in and operating at least 30,000 annual scheduled flights within North America.
A press release states FlightStats determined winners by examining flight status and arrival data aggregated from global sources, including civil aviation authorities, airlines, airports and major airline reservation systems.
“Every year, the FlightStats OPS Awards answers the question of which airlines are the best at getting passengers to their destination on time. We are once again very proud to single out those airlines that consistently offer the very best service to air travelers around the world,” Jeff Kennedy stated in the release. He is chief executive officer of Conducive Technology Corp., which provides FlightStats as a flight tracking and airport information service.
