Former Juneau resident Helen G. Wright, 79, died Jan. 7, 2003, in Anchorage after a sudden illness.
She was born May 19, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio. She came to Alaska in 1949, first living in Juneau and then moving to Kenai in 1965. During the late 1980s she moved to Arizona and returned to Anchorage in 1992. She was an employee of the Ben Franklin store and the state of Alaska.
Her family said she enjoyed playing bingo, knitting and sewing. She also was quite the bargain hunter. They wrote, "She always had a positive attitude, and handy smile and a quick wit. Helen knew how to make a person feel at home, even a stranger."
