Longtime Juneau resident Caitana (Tani) Siangco Aton died Jan. 22, 2002, in Juneau.
She was born April 15, 1935, in Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii. She moved to Juneau in 1976, where she was employed by Harri Plumbing and Heating.
Her family members said she was a loving and devoted wife and friend to many. She enjoyed tennis, golf, fishing and her home was always open to family and friends. She was known to neighborhood children as the "candy lei lady" at Halloween.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eleuterio and Julianna Siangco and four older brothers: Ted, Pat, Ed and Joe Siangco.
She is survived by her husband Pablo (Pabs) Aton; sisters Jean Gomez, Juneau, Dora Quiniones, Molokai, Hawaii, Rita Diorec, Honolulu, Jeannette Wankata-Muni, Seattle; brothers Thomas Siangco and Richard Siangco, Juneau; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002. A reception will follow the service at 2513 Sunset Drive, Juneau. Internment and spreading of ashes will be held in Molokai, Hawaii, at a later date.
