Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

• Nathan Solano, 23, was arrested for drunken driving at 12:59 a.m. today near Mendenhall Loop Road and James Boulevard. He was charged after he was involved in a one-vehicle accident. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• Police arrested a woman, 20, at 3:18 a.m. today downtown for domestic violence assault. The woman was lodged at the state prison. Police believe alcohol was a factor.


• A purse was reported stolen at 10:33 a.m. Monday from an unlocked vehicle near Willoughby Avenue. The purse contained gold wedding rings, earrings, a gold nugget ring and a Nokia cell phone. The items were valued at $1,500.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

• A name was reported scratched onto the hood of a 2003 Toyota Corolla at 9:32 a.m. Monday near Tongass Boulevard. The incident happened last week.

Underage drinking:

• Police cited and released a man, 18, at 1:11 a.m. today near Mendenhall Loop Road for underage driving after drinking.

Vehicle accidents:

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 7:54 a.m. Monday near 1 mile North Douglas Highway. A Chevy truck driven by a boy, 17, struck a black Jeep Wrangler driven by a man, 57.

The boy was cited with failure to exercise due care to avoid an accident. The Wrangler sustained $2,000 in damage and the Jeep sustained $3,000.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 12:38 p.m. Monday near Egan Drive and Channel Drive. A 1992 Oldsmobile struck a 1990 Dodge. The Dodge sustained about $1,500 in damage. Police did not have a damage estimate for the Oldsmobile.

Hit-and-run incidents:

• A Ford truck was reported struck by an unknown vehicle at 1:51 p.m. Monday from an undisclosed location. The vehicle sustained about $1,000 in damage to the tailgate.


• Police arrested a man, 38, on an outstanding Alaska State Troopers warrant at 8:03 p.m. Monday near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek. The warrant charges that he failed to complete the Juneau Alcohol Safety Action Program. The original charge was drunken driving. He was lodged at the state prison.
