A pitch for slower speeds

Posted: Wednesday, January 28, 2004

I, too, was almost run down by two teenage boys who didn't even stop to see if I was OK. I waited for the light to turn green and the white hand to give me the "OK to cross the street" signal. It did, I looked both ways and the car heading northbound was slowing down, so I started my walk and just that second the car decided to turn right. If I wasn't quick enough, the car would have run both my feet over. Fortunately, I jumped back.

My opinion is that it is a residential area that goes to the Back Loop and so it should be residential speed limit, which I believe is 25 mph. Any idea is a good idea - we don't need for our community to lose any more loved ones.
