Juneau's Winter Heat hosts Burning Man Challenge

Posted: Friday, January 28, 2011

JUNEAU — Juneauites are challenged to build their own burning man.

The local group, Juneau’s Winter Heat, is asking locals to build a burnable structure, reminiscent of the same one burned each year in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, and bring it to their bash beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Auke Village Recreation Area.

Entries must be no wider than 3.5 feet at base (to fit in the fire pits) and no taller than a human. No glass or metal allowed. DJ Tyler will be spinning beats, poi spinners will be spinning fire and the lovely Tika will be hula hooping fire. There will be 50 hula hoops for public use. This is a potluck event and crazy costumes are encouraged. Donations are accepted.
