Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


At 11:34 p.m. Monday, a 43-year-old man was arrested for assault at Pocket Park and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


At 10:51 a.m. Monday, a 64-year-old man reported the theft of a 50-horsepower Mercury outboard motor sometime in the past three days from his boat at Auke Lake. The value was estimated at $500.

Vehicle accidents:

Five vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction accident at 9:37 a.m. Monday on southbound Egan Drive near Highland Drive. According to police, a Plymouth Acclaim operated by a 42-year-old woman slowed while approaching a stalled van in the right lane. The Acclaim was struck from behind by a GMC truck operated by a 17-year-old girl. Three more vehicles then collided behind the GMC truck: a Chevy Blazer driven by a 17-year-old girl, a Toyota Corolla driven by a 19-year-old man and a Dodge truck driven by a 69-year-old man.

All of the drivers reported injuries but none were taken to the hospital. The Acclaim suffered $5,000 damage, the GMC truck and Blazer $3,000 damage each and the Corolla and Dodge truck $100 each. No one was cited.

At 12:06 p.m. Monday, a 1998 Plymouth Neon operated by a 42-year-old woman lost control and struck the rear of a 1999 Chrysler driven by a 64-year-old man on northbound Egan Drive at Vanderbilt Hill Road. The Chrysler, which sustained $1,000 damage, then struck a guardrail. The woman was cited for basic speed.

At 2:33 p.m. Monday, a grader operated by a 56-year-old man struck a 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit operated by a 43-year-old man on Tonsgard Court in Lemon Creek. The Rabbit sustained $1,000 damage.

A 27-year-old woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 3:38 p.m. Monday on Glacier Highway at Tonsgard Court. According to police, the 34-year-old male driver of a 1988 Nissan Sentra lost control of his car after an unknown vehicle cut him off. The Sentra was struck by a 1994 Chevrolet pickup operated by a 28-year-old woman. Police said the injured woman, a passenger in the pickup, was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital with leg injuries. The Sentra sustained $2,000 damage, and the pickup sustained $1,500 damage.

At 3:50 p.m. Monday, a 43-year-old man reported a Jeep Wrangler had backed into his 1997 Mercury Sable on Glacier Avenue. There was minor damage to the Sable's bumper.

At 4:30 p.m. Monday a Subaru Loyale struck an Oldsmobile Cutlass on northbound Egan Drive at Salmon Creek as both cars were attempting to avoid another vehicle. The Oldsmobile sustained $1,500 damage.

At 5:39 p.m. Monday, a 1994 Mazda operated by a 20-year-old woman rear-ended a 1997 Plymouth driven by a 49-year-old woman on Mendenhall Loop Road at Nancy Street. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

At 8:27 p.m. Monday, a Chrysler New Yorker struck a Plymouth Voyager at the intersection of Egan Drive and Willoughby Avenue. Both vehicles sustained $2,000 damage but were driven from the scene. A 65-year-old man was cited for failure to yield after a stop.


At 4:50 p.m. Monday, an 18-year-old woman reported the loss of her brown leather purse in Juneau.
