Fish advisors to look at Taku king trolling

Posted: Thursday, January 29, 2009

JUNEAU - The Alaska Trollers Association has proposed to allow trollers to fish for king salmon in Taku Inlet whenever the district's transboundary river fishery is open.

That's among the proposals that the Juneau-Douglas Fish and Game Advisory Committee may consider on Thursday evening. The advisory committee, along with dozens of others around the state, make recommendations to the state Board of Fish and Game on proposals from agencies and resource users on how fishing and game regulations should be modified.

The trollers' association's proposal says its members don't have enough access to the fishery.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. at Douglas Island Pink and Chum Inc. on Channel Drive.
