JUNEAU - Juneau could have a new city manager by April, based on a schedule Juneau Assembly members reviewed on Wednesday.
The Assembly closed the application period for city manager on Jan. 24 after reopening it last month. The city received 12 new applications, including several from Alaska, Mayor Sally Smith said. In addition, the city has about 70 applications it received after advertising the opening last year, she said.
Assembly members will sift through the applications on Feb. 18 and select four to six finalists on Feb. 26, Smith said. Under that schedule, the Assembly would select someone for the job in early April.
The Assembly readvertised the opening in December after deciding not to consider interim city manager and former Assembly member John MacKinnon for the position.
