Juneau resident Duane Lewis Stone, 44, died Jan. 23, 2005, in Juneau.
He was born on June 26, 1960, in Tualatin, Ore. He attended Juneau-Douglas High School.
"Duane helped many others through difficult times," his family said. "He had an innate ability to make people laugh. His favorite fishing spot was Handtrollers Cove. He loved to ride his Harley, and if the sun was out and warm, you would find him soaking up the rays."
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna M. Stone Rowles.
He is survived by his fiancee, Nancy Jeffrey of Juneau; his son, Justin Stone, of Oregon; his father, Dale Stone Sr., and wife, Carolyn, of Oregon; his grandmother, Marie Flabetich, of Oregon; brothers Dale Stone Jr. and wife Demetra and David Stone and wife Laurel of Juneau; sister, Mary Stone, of Washington; nieces Carlin Stone and Tatiana Stone of Washington, and Donna Stone, currently serving in Iraq; nephews Brandon Stone of Ohio and Dashiell Stone of Washington.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced.
