School district could be making better use of its time, money

I find it interesting that the Juneau School District has the money to spend on an issue that is long past, when teachers and support staff are not being paid near enough money for the work that they do in educating our children. There is not enough money for new textbooks, substitute teachers are being paid at a rate that is not livable, and the schools are in need of maintenance.

Sound off on the important issues at

I am not saying that I condone the antics of the young gentleman when he held up the sign, "Bong Hits 4 Jesus," because I don't.

It appears to me, that the district could be making better use of their money, and their time, by working to improve the quality of our schools, rather than to obsess on a past event which has little or no relevance to what needs to be done now, which has a much higher probability to create a brighter future for our children, and for ourselves as well.
