Man faces 40 years on firearms charges

ANCHORAGE - A 40-year-old Point Hope man faces up to 40 years in a federal prison when he's sentenced on firearms charges.

Russell Jay Lane has pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Sentencing will likely be scheduled this spring.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Lane has a previous conviction in Alaska for attempted sexual assault in the second degree.

Authorities said he was found last June in possession of a firearm and numerous types and amounts of ammunition.
