Glory Hole seeks potters to donate handmade soup bowls

Posted: Friday, January 30, 2009

The Glory Hole, Juneau's homeless shelter and soup kitchen, is looking for donations of handmade soup bowls from area-wide potters for an "Empty Bowls" dinner in February. Many local potters, both professional and amateur, have already agreed to make and donate bowls, but more are still needed.

"Empty Bowls" is a nationwide event that funds hunger relief programs. Diners select a bowl from which to have a simple meal of soup and bread, and afterwards take the bowl home as a reminder that there are empty bowls everywhere in the world. Locally, the event will take place April 26 at Centennial Hall.
