... for helping students

Over the last five months the Junior Achievement Economics & Entrepreneurship class at Juneau-Douglas High School had the privilege of having a variety of guest speakers share their knowledge and experiences with us. Their main objective was to prepare us for the business world outside of the school environment.

John Logan, CPA, came in on a weekly basis throughout the semester and shared his wisdom about the business world with us. He helped us start our own business, Bear Wear, and helped us learn what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. His assistance helped us overcome challenges in running our business and to make the best choices possible.

Meg Day arranged the Success Skills part of the class. Throughout the semester we studied interpersonal skills, communication skills, job interviewing, how to write a perfect resume, job seeking skills, and the importance of valuing diversity and teamwork.

On behalf of the class, we would like to say a special thank you to John Logan, Meg Day, Ron Plantz, Susan Christianson, Lisa Ryals, Randy Wanamaker, Fran Kinney, Benthe Mertl-Posthumus, Bob Weiss, Mike Hutcherson, David Sheakley, Stephanie Maloney and Micheal Hekkers.

The class wouldn't exist without the support from the business community. We would also like to say thank you to all the sponsors and donors to the Junior Achievement program around Alaska. Your support is really appreciated and very valuable. Your support of our education will help us with our future endeavors.
