Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Assaults:

About 1:45 a.m. today, a man, 27, was arrested for domestic violence assault in the Mendenhall Valley and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. Alcohol was involved in the incident.

About 3 a.m. today, a man, 36, was arrested downtown for domestic violence assault. He was lodged at state prison. Alcohol was involved in the incident.

Thefts, lost and found items:

About 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, a police officer found a black and blue In Gear brand backpack on Spruce Street. The backpack was placed into safekeeping at the police station pending contact with its owner.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

About 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man reported two mailboxes on Thane Road had been vandalized some time during the night. There were no leads and no suspects.

Fires:

Morning commuter traffic was backed up in the area of David Street in Douglas about 7:45 a.m. today when firefighters responded to a report of a car on fire driving on that street. Firefighters and an ambulance responded but could not find a vehicle or a fire.

Vehicle accidents:

About 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Egan Drive inbound at the intersection with Hospital Drive. A boy, 17, who was driving a red 1993 Toyota pickup, was issued a citation for careless driving. His vehicle sustained about $1,000 damage. The second vehicle, driven by a woman, 31, sustained about $500 damage.

Domestic violence calls: 2.

Alcohol-related calls: 2.

Crime Line

Juneau Crime Line Inc. is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person or people responsible for a vehicle rifling reported to the Juneau Police Department on Jan. 3. The incident occurred to an unlocked vehicle parked at a Lemon Creek residence. Stolen items include a green Franklin Covey organizer (valued at about $80); a silver Panasonic Shockwave compact disk player ($160); a red and black Clive brand backpack ($80); three pairs Burton snowboard boots (cumulatively, $430); 3 pairs snowpants ($220); 3 pairs goggles ($300); 2 pairs Burton snowboard mittens ($100); and one pair Drop snowboard gloves ($90).
