A moose pauses while eating a leftover Halloween pumpkin sitting on a porch last week at an Anchorage home. Deep mountain snow usually drives moose to seek lower ground in the city each winter, but the snow in town this year is too deep even for the long-legged animals. So they're going where they'd rather not - choosing major roads, plowed sidewalks and groomed trails to sidestep the mounds piling up in neighborhoods and greenbelts during an extra snowy month.
