The Valley Youth Club was established as a temporary stopgap by Juneau Youth Services, the United Way, the Juneau Community Foundation and the Youth Action Committee after the Juneau Boys and Girls club closed suddenly in September.
A JYS report found in December that the Valley club would cost too much to keep open.
"Juneau is a strong community. I was amazed at Juneau Youth Service and their fast action in keeping the club open and helping over 60 youth the past four months," Clubhouse Manager Taralee Ellis said in an e-mail Thursday night. "It is important that the youth of Juneau feel as if they belong and have a place in our community. Please do not give up in fighting for our youth."
