Alaska youth hold March summit on civics, conservation

JUNEAU - Alaska Youth for Environmental Action program of the National Wildlife Federation is holding its seventh Civics and Conservation Summit for teens from March 9-13 in Juneau.

The summit is for those interested in the environment, conservation, social justice and making their voices heard. Youth participants will spend five days in the state capital learning about conservation issues, legislation and the political process while developing skills in media and communication.

The summit is limited to 20 students in grades 8-12. School credit may be available. Applications are available at or by calling 907-339-3908. Tuition is $150, with scholarships available. Deadline for applications is Wednesday, Feb. 5.
