ANCHORAGE — University of Alaska President Pat Gamble has picked the president and chief operating officer of the Alaska Aerospace Corp. to be the next chancellor of UA Anchorage.

Tom Case, a former dean of the UAA College of Business and Public Policy, will succeed Fran Ulmer when she retires.

Case graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1969 and retired as a three-star general. He was in charge of the business school for five years starting in 2001.

Ulmer announced a year ago that she intended to retire in 2011 to spend more time with family and to work on public policy issues.

Alaska Aerospace Corp. Chief Executive Officer Dale Nash announced former Alaska Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell will become the president for the corporation on Feb. 15.
