Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Thefts, lost and found property:

About 11:45 a.m. Thursday, a man, 51, reported from Gastineau Elementary School that he had lost a diamond solitaire ring.

About 4:45 p.m. Thursday, a woman, 53, reported from Trafalgar Avenue that someone entered her parked vehicle Wednesday night and stole about $4 in change.

Traffic stops:

About 7:15 p.m. Thursday, police stopped a man, 21, near the intersection of Egan Drive outbound and Mendenhall Loop Road. The man was cited for driving without a license. He was then released at the scene. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Vehicle accidents:

Just before 9 a.m. Thursday, a two-vehicle accident occurred near the intersection of Egan Drive and West Eighth Street. A white 1994 Ford truck, driven by a man, 55, suffered no damage. A white 1994 Nissan Sentra, driven by a woman, 29, suffered $2,000 damage. The man was cited for unsafe backing. Alcohol was involved in the incident.

Capitol City Fire & Rescue responded at 4:38 p.m. Thursday to a two-car accident at Egan Drive and the Fred Meyer intersection. Both vehicles were totaled, a 1995 Mitsubishi driven by a girl, 19; and a 1991 Chevrolet pickup, operated by a man, 35. The crash backed up traffic for about two miles toward downtown, and some motorists were stopped for more than half an hour. No one suffered injuries requiring hospital medical attention. Citations are pending, police said.

Just before 7 p.m. Thursday, Capitol City Fire & Rescue responded to an accident at Fourth and Gold Streets. There were no major injuries.


At 8:16 a.m. Thursday, police received a parking complaint about a light blue Ford Taurus parked near the intersection of Fifth and Seward Streets. The Taurus was impounded for being parked where prohibited.
