The Crimson Bears (13-3) raced to a 24-11 halftime lead and held off a late charge by the Golden Bears to win.

"We had a horrible third quarter," JDHS coach Lesslie Knight said. "Down the stretch it was back and forth."

Bartlett actually led by one in the fourth quarter, but solid free throw shooting bailed out JDHS.

Talisa Rhea knocked down all 14 of her free throws while the team made 20 of 23 attempts in the win.

"We talk a lot about free throws and that they'll make a difference in the game," Knight said. "It was definitely the case. We went to the line 23 times in the game, which is amazing."

Juneau's success at the free throw line helped the team overcome a rough night from the field.

The Crimson Bears made only 34 percent of the shots and turned the ball over 30 times.

"I'm thankful we got the win," Knight said. "We actually played very sluggish and we attribute that to the travel day."

Rhea totaled 25 points and added six rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Freshman Corey Mulder came off the bench to score six points and pull down five boards.

"Corey Mulder had a great game and did great things defensively," Knight said.

JDHS takes on top-ranked Wasilla at 6:45 p.m. tonight in the semifinal round.

The Warriors defeated Service in Thursday's quarterfinal round.
