A little wintertime help for pedestrians

I don't understand why only the roads get plowed here, especially when some children have to walk to and from school. Also, drivers do not pay attention to the yield or the crosswalks. Most of the time people are in such a hurry to get to and from work that they seem to think they're Mario Andretti, and our highways are their race tracks.

I don't understand why the police don't monitor traffic during these peak times, especially during the times children go to and from the school. I think many drivers need to go back and study their drivers manual, and remember that when a pedestrian is at a crosswalk, especially near a yield sign, that the driver is to stop and let the pedestrian cross the street.
