Pro-choice and pro-life

Letter to the editor

Thank you for your thoughtful and intelligent editorial Sunday in support of the work by Planned Parenthood to provide a clinic for woman's health services here.

Apparently some organizations with an agenda to push are trying to polarize the discussion of this needed facility in order to force a wedge between thoughtful friends and neighbors. Soon, we could start hearing half-truths, insults and public-relations "messages" thrown about in our small town. That would be a shame.

As for myself I am both pro-choice and pro-life. I am pro-choice in that governments, churches and other interest groups are welcome to give me advice about matters important to me, my friends, co-workers and family, but they are not welcome to tell me what those choices must be. I am pro-life in that providing for the good health, and the intellectual, spiritual and economic well-being of a living man, woman or child, is far more important to me than obedience to current religious, political or economic doctrine.

People like me can relate to the Planned Parenthood clinic, and to an editorial like yours. Please keep it up.
