FAIRBANKS — An Alaska man has been charged with criminally negligent homicide for a fatal crash nearly four years ago.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that 29-year-old Guy Pluard of Healy was charged for allegedly running a stop sign on the Old Steese Highway, resulting in the death of his passenger on July 22, 2007.
Pluard’s passenger, Hazel Mary Hopson, was thrown from the car when it collided with a sport utility vehicle.
Alaska State Troopers said Pluard told them he had been drinking, didn’t remember a stop sign in that area and didn’t notice it because he was talking.
Court documents said his blood-alcohol content was under the legal limit but his license had been revoked at the time because of a driving while intoxicated conviction before the accident.
