Starved for humor

Posted: Monday, February 04, 2002

I have listened to Tom Leykis over the last 12-13 years when he used to have a drive time show on KFI 640 in Los Angeles. Tom used to have social conscience issues pertaining to local events and/or national events that affected all of us in the LA area. He actually made sense. Over time, as his ratings grew, his show took on a different slant. Mainly it became centered around Tom himself. Tom having lunch with Rush Limbaugh, Tom the vegetarian, Tom and how poor he was in New York, Tom and the many women he had in his life, Tom and wives Nos. 1, 2 and 3. KFI had the smarts and yanked him. He went to Boston and Arizona and wound up back at LA. I hear him now here in Vegas on a syndicated show when I forget to change the dial. The one theme that runs rampant is sex. Not just nice sex, but be a jerk to women sex. This shows not only a lack of creativity in Tom's mind, but what does that say about his listeners? Are we that starved for humor?
