Thanks to the four individuals who helped me get my car out of the ditch on Thane on Friday night.
The Juneau Symphony was simply wonderful.
The reason Eaglecrest opened Feb. 1 is because if they don't, they have to refund 75 percent of the season-pass money.
Everyone needs to lay off Eaglecrest and expand their learning abilities this year due to Mother Nature.
I'm glad Eaglecrest is open and for the people who don't like it, just don't go.
Eaglecrest is doing what it can. They can't make it snow. They're opening for us skiers and snowboarders who have been hiking for the last month and who don't care about rain or anything. If you don't like it, just wait.
Rock on, Eaglecrest.
I'm glad Eaglecrest is open and I appreciate their hard work. But conditions are not suitable for novices such as my children. I purchased a family all-lift pass. I understand they are giving discounts to people who buy daily tickets so I hope Eaglecrest passes those discounts on to season pass-holders.
Thanks, Eaglecrest, for opening. I don't ski but I went up there and I sure did see a lot of happy kids. Thanks, Empire, for Word of Mouth. It makes a lot of people smile. Despite all the complaining, Juneau is a wonderful place to live and I know that the majority of people are good-hearted, not mean-spirited.
What hubris. Jerry Reinwand's attempt to stake out the journalistic high ground is laughable. When he was chief of staff did he really believe all of his press releases were true? Whether they come signed from the governor's office or unsigned in Word of Mouth, spin is still spin.
Anyone who has ever done a good job facilitating a meeting understands a lot of great ideas never get heard because the would-be speaker is too self-conscious to speak up. The loud mouths will monopolize the time if the facilitator does not create space for others to speak. I commend the Empire for creating the space in Word of Mouth. Along with a lot of loud-mouthed junk, you occasionally find a gem. Word of Mouth is like a walk on the beach. You wade through a lot of seaweed and boring rocks and occasionally find a piece of great beauty. Personally I'm not going to quit walking the beach just because there's an occasional smelly fish.
Word of Mouth does not divide our community. It merely exposes the division that already exists. Kirby Day would like to think his brand of tourism is OK with everyone. I'm sure he does not like reading uncomplimentary remarks about his business. But unless he listens and acknowledges there are problems, he will be useless in helping to solve them.
Word of Mouth provides a valuable service. Anonymous comments have as much right to be in the paper as those from people who like to see their names in print. It provides information to citizens and the assembly about what people are thinking. Some callers don't want to see their names in print but their opinions are just as valuable as Kirby Day's, Kimberly Metcalfe's or Jerry Reinwand's.
I think Jerry Reinwand is too serious. I think Word of Mouth is interesting. I like seeing what people have to say.
