Say no to land swap

Berners Bay is one of Juneau's most popular recreation areas, as well as a haven for hooligan, sea lions, bald eagles, bears, and a host of other animals. It appalls me that, given its significance, Sen. Lisa Murkowski would want to trade this land to private corporation. Worse, putting land around Berners Bay in private hands will likely make it much easier for the Kensington gold mine to obtain permits to dump mine waste in a pristine lake that flows into the bay.

Sen. Murkowski heard it from hundreds of people in Juneau last fall, but the fact that she's forging ahead with this land trade in a Senate hearing next week leads me to believe that she needs to hear it again: Berners Bay is too valuable to be given away!
