• On Jan. 27, 2004, a son, Toby Allen Russell, weighing 8 pounds 7 ounces, to Erin Nicole Russell and Sam Allen Russell of Juneau.

• On Jan. 28, 2004, a daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Ashton, weighing 7 pounds 9 ounces, to Liana Elizabeth Painter and Stuart John Ashton of Juneau.

Courts

Court records show the following legal actions among those taken recently in Juneau Superior and District courts:

Judgments:

• Kyle D. Nalan was found guilty of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, stemming from a Feb. 3, 2003, incident. Juneau Superior Court Judge Patricia Collins imposed 36 months in jail with 18 months suspended and credit for time already served before his sentencing. She also placed Nalan on probation for three years.

• Manuel Flores, 57, was found guilty of felony driving under the influence, stemming from an Oct. 15, 2003, incident. Juneau Superior Court Judge Larry Weeks imposed two years in jail with one year suspended. He also permanently revoked Flores' license to drive and placed him on probation for three years. Flores' blood-alcohol level was unavailable.

• Russell G. King, 38, was found guilty of operating a vehicle, air or watercraft while intoxicated, stemming from a Jan. 18 incident where his blood-alcohol level was measured at .118 percent. Juneau District Court Judge Peter B. Froehlich imposed 33 days in jail with 30 days suspended and a $3,000 fine with $1,500 suspended. He also revoked King's license for 90 days and placed him on probation for one year. Prosecutors dismissed charge of failing to stop for a red light.

• Frederick S. Oleson, 34, was found guilty of driving while intoxicated, stemming from a Jan. 27 incident where his blood-alcohol level was measured at .186 percent. Froehlich imposed 36 days in jail with 30 days suspended and a $3,000 fine with $1,500 suspended. He also revoked Oleson's license for 90 days and placed him on probation for two years.

• Anthony L. Strong, 57, was found guilty of misdemeanor harassment, stemming from an Aug. 1, 2002, incident. Ketchikan District Judge Kevin G. Miller, appearing telephonically in Juneau District Court, placed Strong on probation for one year.

• Cary E. Shilts, 39, was found guilty of disorderly conduct, stemming from a Nov. 6, 2003, incident where Shilts originally was charged with misdemeanor assault. Froehlich imposed 60 days in jail with 55 days suspended, with an option to complete 40 hours of community service in lieu of jail time. Froehlich also imposed a $250 fine and a one-year probation term. Prosecutors dismissed a charge of misdemeanor criminal mischief.

• Dennis Dhaenens, 33, was found guilty of misdemeanor assault, stemming from a Dec. 26, 2003, incident. Froehlich imposed 365 days in jail with 300 days suspended and a $2,000 fine with $1,500 suspended. Froehlich also placed Dhaenens on probation for four years. For violating previous probation terms, Froehlich ordered Dhaenens to serve 35 days in jail.

• Shane D. Newitt, 35, was found guilty of disorderly conduct, stemming from a Nov. 4, 2003, incident where Newitt originally was charged with misdemeanor assault. Froehlich imposed 45 days in jail, all suspended, and a $500 fine with $250 suspended. He placed Newitt on probation for one year, requiring 20 hours of community service as a condition.

• A charge of underage drinking against Steven R. Van Epps was dismissed by prosecutors. The charge alleged a Sept. 27, 2003, violation.

• Myron C. Murphy, 21, was found guilty in Hoonah District Court of obstruction of a highway, stemming from a Jan. 15 incident. Magistrate Joyce Skaflestad imposed 10 days in jail, all suspended, and a $300 fine with $250 suspended. She also placed Murphy on probation for one year.

• Tobin C. Rubke, 45, was found guilty in Hoonah District Court of resisting arrest, stemming from a Nov. 16, 2003, incident. Skaflestad imposed 45 days in jail with credit for time already served. Prosecutors dismissed a charge of second-degree criminal trespass.

• Phillip B. Sharclane, 55, was found guilty in Hoonah District Court of failing to have a permit to operate gear. Skaflestad imposed a $1,000 fine with $900 suspended. She also placed Sharclane on probation for one year.

• Frank C. White Jr., 42, was found guilty in Hoonah District Court of first-degree criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and harassment, stemming from a Jan. 31 incident where fighting and offensive physical contact were alleged. Skaflestad imposed 30 days in jail for trespassing, 30 days for harassment and 10 days for disorderly conduct. She ordered all three sentences to be served at the same time.

• Frank G. Wright Jr., 55, was found guilty in Hoonah District Court of violating fishing seasons rules, stemming from a Nov. 5, 2003, incident. Skaflestad imposed a $1,000 fine with $500 suspended and placed Wright on probation for six months.
