Mark Jacobs Jr. died Jan. 13, 2005, in Sitka.
He was born Nov. 28, 1923. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was appointed by Gov. Wally Hickel as the director of rural development. He was active in the Alaska Native Brotherhood, AFN, the NCAI, and was the current director emeritus of the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; his sons Tony of Washington and Harold of Sitka; his sister Bertha Karras of Sitka; his aunt Matilda Gamble of Angoon; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Feb. 9, at Glacier Valley Church of God.
