Too much Lew for one Empire reader

Why does the Juneau Empire provide Lew Williams Jr. with an ongoing political privilege and a platform for his anti-environment, pro-road, subsidize-the-timber-industry pitch?

This accommodation has gone on for a long time and was called into question by the Empire's Citizen Editorial Committee. It is particularly offensive that the stated Empire policy limiting My Turn columns to 700 words is ignored for Lew Williams' submissions. His most recent column (Jan. 28) was 948 words long. Give us a break. I think his familiar rant should be confined to the pages of the Ketchikan Daily News.
