Juneau City Band to begin rehearsals Feb. 21

Posted: Friday, February 06, 2009

JUNEAU - The Juneau City Band, a not-for-profit Alaska corporation providing adult Juneau-area band musicians (excluding string players) to practice and perform contemporary and traditional band repertoire from around the world, will begin rehearsals Feb. 21.

A concert in late March or early May is being considered. Rehearsal details will be given to all players upon successful audition. Audition materials will be provided.

Because there are several levels of performing groups, Juneau City Bands encourages all Juneau musicians who played in high school or above (whether or not they are current in their skills) to dust off their instruments and join them. There is no membership fee. Auditions for the limited seating will be done by the director and existing section principals.

For more information, call and leave a message with your name, instrument and contact information at Juneau Brass & Winds at 789-0777 ext. 1. Or visit sites.google.com/site/juneaucommunityband/ for additional information.

Juneau City Band is the parent organization of the "Juneau All Volunteer Marching Band," the Juneau Concert Band/Wind Ensemble and several smaller groups assembled to play for special occasions.
