Housing First seeks qualified homebuyers

JUNEAU - Housing First Inc., a nonprofit housing organization devoted to providing affordable housing options to Juneau residents, is seeking qualified homebuyers committed to owning their own home.

The Home Opportunity Program, a loan program offering assistance for down payment and closing costs for qualified home buyers, application period has been extended through October 2009 or until funds are committed. The program is intended to help income qualified individuals and families purchase homes.

More than $400,000 is now available in Juneau, allowing up to $30,000 per household dependant on need and availability. The Home Opportunity Program is being offered by Housing First Inc., with grant funds from Alaska Housing Finance Corporation. These loans are interest-free and partially forgivable depending upon the length of time a home buyer remains in the home.

Juneau's 2008 income limits are as follows: $43,050 for one person, $49,200 for two people, $55,350 for three people, $61,500 for four people, $66,400 for five people, $71,350 for six people, $76,250 for seven people and $81,200 for eight people.
