At 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, the Juneau Police Department received a report of an apparent suicide in the parking lot of the Federal Building.
Responding officers found the body of a man, 38, in a Ford pickup. Investigation revealed what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Officers contacted the medical examiner in Anchorage who authorized release of the body to the local mortuary.
The victim, who was not identified, recently moved to the Juneau area, according to a press release from police Capt. Tom Porter.
The man had a New Mexico driver's license. Alcohol did not appear to be involved in the death, Porter said.
The police are not releasing the name pending notification of relatives.
